WORKING GROUP ON KALKAN PROJECT HOLDS SECOND MEETING IN BAKU
Representatives of the terror fighting bodies and Interpol’s National Central Bureaus of over 25 states take part at the action. Deputy interior minister, MG Vilayet Eyvazov in his opening remarks said the cooperation in numerous forms to combat against transnational crimes and international terrorism should be strengthened. In this sense, he spoke of the tasks Interpol should implement as an international tool and the works done in Azerbaijan after the Republic was admitted to this Organization in 1992.
The deputy minister gave high assessment to the action being held in Baku, stressing importance of wide discussions of combat against international terrorism in the frame of Kalkan project.
Mr. Eyvazov updated the conferees on the participation of Azerbaijan in the anti-terror coalition, the cooperation of the Republican law-enforcement bodies with the foreign countries, the operative data exchange, on disclosure of six suspected branch organizations with finance in Azerbaijan and assisting terror acts. Therefore, 43 people with contacts to those organizations were expelled from the country.
The first meeting of the Working Group on Kalkan Project was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
The action focuses wide data exchange in combat against terrorism and will end on 2 February.
