WORTHY CONTRIBUTION TO MAINTENANCE OF ENERGY SAFETY OF WORLD
Professor A. Aliyev, who is about eighty, was among the group of the first experts, which on behalf of Heydar Aliyev participated in preparation of “The Contract of the Century”. During consultations behind ocean, and also with representatives of the companies entering into world oil elite, they defended the point of view of Azerbaijan, the ideas which have been put forward by the President of the country.
Start-up of BTC has marked celebration of the New Oil Strategy, the architect of which was Heydar Aliyev, the Academician says, especially emphasizing, that the national leader has shown extraordinary hardness and resoluteness in preparation and substantiation of the project and in choice of route of the oil pipeline, attraction for it of the leading companies of the world. He resisted to all difficulties and intrigues of BT opponents both in the country, and beyond its borders. The responsibility for BTC’s launch has fallen on President Ilham Aliyev. Continuing the policy of his father, he could manage to lift on a high level the strategic importance of Azerbaijan.
Today, from Ceyhan terminal the 9th tanker with the Azerbaijan oil has left already, more than 6 million barrels of oil is already delivered from the Caspian to the Mediterranean. A. Aliyev is convinced that when on the pipeline, predictably, it will be daily transported up to 1 million barrels of oil, and thus, in a year it will make 50 million tons.
It is significant, that solemn ceremony of opening of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Main Export Pipeline coincided with the summit of G8 in St. Petersburg on which has been adopted the document containing the plan of action “Global Energy Safety”. According to professor A. Aliyev, this plan is a constructive and important mechanism, some kind of the strategic program, allowing solving many questions in the field of world energy safety. And in this context, it is difficult to overestimate the importance of the exclusive success reached in increase of manufacture of hydrocarbons on the Caspian and creation of system of oil recovery and transport infrastructure of world class as is the BTC after Heydar Aliyev.
“Security measures, regional cooperation and establishment of peace- all this is necessary for region”, the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev told at ceremony of the BTC start-up.
‘Leading foreign politicians and authoritative observers highly estimate intentions of Azerbaijan to contribute to strengthening of global energy safety by increase of transparency, predictability and stability of the power markets, improvement of investment climate in energy sector, maintenance of physical safety of the vital power infrastructure’, professor Akif Aliyev told.
