1st Baku International Tourism Films Festival opens
Baku, November 21 (AZERTAC). The 1st Baku International Tourism Films Festival opened at the Nizami Cinema Center.
A photo- exhibition featuring tourism potential of Azerbaijan was demonstrated for the participants.
Minister of culture and tourism Abulfas Garayev spoke of the importance of the festival, noting the country’s successes in this field and election to the Executive Board of the World Tourism Organization. “This was possible thanks to personal care and attention of President Ilham Aliyev,” the Minister emphasized.
The goal of the festival is to attract the world attention to the rich tourism potential of Azerbaijan, one of the world centers of historical and cultural heritage.
Garayev said the festival would be opened by the film “Return to the Caucasus” starring Gerard Depardieu. Azerbaijan and France shot the film together. The Minister also noted the important role of Azerbaijan’s First Lady, UNESCO and ISESCO goodwill ambassador, MP Mehriban Aliyeva in expansion of bilateral cultural relations between Azerbaijan and France.
The Minister expressed hope the festival would become traditional. Then, the film “Return to the Caucasus” was demonstrated.
Some 78 films from 31 countries have been included to the competition program of the festival.
The films will be shown at the Nizami Cinema Center, 7 person’s international jury consisting of cinematographers, as well as travel and tourism experts will appreciate the films.
The jury will define 3 films in each category that be will rewarded. Gold award - diploma, reward and 2000 Euros will be presented to the winner, silver award - diploma and reward - will be presented to the 2nd place winner, bronze award - diploma and reward - will be presented to the 3rd place.
Grand Pry - diploma, reward and 4000 Euros - will be presented to best film of the festival.
The closing ceremony of the festival will be on the 23rd of October.
