Baku, February 26, AZERTAC
A delegation of media representatives from territories under French rule visited the Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC) as part of their visit to Azerbaijan.
The guests toured AZERTAC’s facilities, viewing photo stands showcasing National Leader Heydar Aliyev, President Ilham Aliyev, and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva’s participation in various events, interviews with local and foreign media, addresses by the Commander-in-Chief during the Patriotic War, and visits to liberated regions. They also explored an exhibition of technical equipment used by AZERTAC over the years.
Daghbayi Ismayilov, Deputy Chairman of AZERTAC’s Board, briefed the delegation on the agency’s history and operations, highlighting its 105-year legacy. He noted that AZERTAC publishes around 600 news items daily in eight languages and collaborates with 53 international news agencies and media organizations.
Addressing the recent ban on an AZERTAC employee’s entry into New Caledonia, Ismayilov criticized France’s attempts to suppress truthful reporting on growing independence movements in its overseas territories. He also emphasized the Baku Initiative Group’s role in supporting peoples striving for freedom and expressed confidence that independence would boost the development of national media in these regions.
Executive Director of the Baku Initiative Group Abbas Abbasov underscored that the visit aimed to foster press relations. AZERTAC officials, including Deputy Chairman Sevinj Abdullayeva and Head of the Global Communications and Information Department Elshan Shahbalayev, stressed the importance of information exchange and future cooperation.
