ANCIENT COPY OF KORAN FOUND IN KHAREZM, UZBEKISTAN
One of the oldest copies of Koran was found in Urgench province of Uzbekistan, the owner of which is Abdulhamidkhoca Atacanov. The copy was written on the deer’s skin. Scientists of Kharezm and Tashkent claimed this manuscript was copied by Mushevi Osman in Kharezm. But they were at loss about when it was copied.
The found copy of Koran was compiled from 120 deer’s skin, and is of 80X64 size and without cover. The scripts are fire-graved and all 6666 verses are clearly read .
Ancestries of Abdulhamidkhoca Atacanov were clericals. The family has preserved about 500 rare copies of numerous editions, among which are also the works of Azerbaijani classics.
