AZERBAIJAN DIPLOMATIC ACADEMY ORGANIZES TRAINING COURSES FOR AFGHAN CITIZENS
Baku, October 4 (AZERTAC). The Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy and Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) have concluded 10-day course for 19 Afghan public service officials. The course titled “Rule of Law and Good Governance” and jointly organized by the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy and the Geneva Center for Security Policy was concluded by the certificate award ceremony in ADA.
At the closing ceremony, the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs of ADA, Dr. Anar Valiyev, reiterated that Afghanistan is facing a very critical period in the process of state building. Mr.Valiyev said that it is an important mission to assist the Afghan people, with which Azerbaijanis enjoy close historical and cultural ties. He noted that as a further step, ADA will grant full scholarships for four students from Afghanistan to study at the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy, two at MA and BA level respectively.
The course director of GCSP, Dr. Peter Foot, expressed his satisfaction with the level of support provided to the Afghan participants in Azerbaijan and announced that the program will be implemented on the annual basis.
The lectures were presented by both GCSP and ADA faculty. The participants were introduced to the strategies in developing peace and state building skills, conflict analysis and management, effective service to the community, communication skills and accountability in government. Afghan participants also visited historical sites of Azerbaijan such as Qobustan Reserve to acquire more information on the history and culture of the country.
