AZERBAIJAN FM MAMMADYAROV MEETS RUSSIAN DEPUTY FM KISLYAK
Azerbaijan`s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Kislyak on Thursday.
The sides discussed security issues on bilateral and regional levels as well as current state and prospects of the Azerbaijan-Russia relations.
Sergey Kislyak said the development of bilateral ties is of huge importance to both countries.
He expressed satisfaction with his meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, noting there are great opportunities for further enhancing political, economic and cultural cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia.
Mr. Kislyak informed Minister Mammadyarov about Russia`s stance towards the European Arms Treaty as well as Qabala Radar Station.
He expressed the importance of maintaining the established regional and global security regime.
Elmar Mammadyarov described the level of the Azerbaijan-Russia bilateral and multilateral relations as high, and emphasized the enhancement of the cooperation would contribute greatly to strengthening security and stability in the region.
On the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, the Minister praised the role of Russia as an OSCE Misnk Group co-chairing country.
Touching upon the recent so-called “presidential” elections held by Armenia in the occupied regions of Azerbaijan, he noted such illegal actions are not recognized by most countries and influential international organizations.
The Minister said that Armenian leadership creates artificial obstacles to the peace process demonstrating non-constructive position in the negotiations.
He stressed it is important that the conflict be solved in accordance with the international legal norms and principles, and within Azerbaijan`s internationally recognized territorial integrity.
