Azerbaijan, Kenya explore cooperation in humanitarian demining
Baku, November 5, AZERTAC
An Azerbaijani delegation led by Samir Poladov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA), paid a working visit to Kenya.
During the visit, the delegation, joined by Samir Hajiyev, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Kenya, met with the leadership of the International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC).
Samir Poladov briefed the Kenyan side on the landmine problem in the liberated Azerbaijani territories, the devastating impact of landmines and unexploded ordnances, and Azerbaijan’s nationally funded demining efforts. He emphasized that humanitarian demining is crucial for ensuring the safe progress of large-scale reconstruction projects and the return of former residents.
The Kenyan side informed the Azerbaijani delegation about the activities of the IPSTC, including efforts to enhance expertise in humanitarian demining through international cooperation.
The ANAMA delegation then toured the IPSTC facilities and reviewed the equipment used at the center.
As part of the visit, the delegation also visited the Azerbaijani Embassy in Kenya, where they paid tribute and placed flowers at the bust of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
