Azerbaijan, Latvia discuss outlook for transport cooperation
Baku, January 17 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijani Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov has met a Latvian delegation led by Transport Minister Anrijs Matiss.
They discussed a number of issues, including bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Latvia, innovations in the transport sector and large scale regional projects.
Minister Mammadov underlined major reforms are being carried out in the country. He also noted that Azerbaijan has made a progress in its integration into the world community during recent years.
The Azerbaijani Minister underlined the transport was one of the priority sectors in the country`s economy. Mammadov stressed the government attached great importance to this area.
The Minister found the need for cooperation with Latvia in railway, motor transport and road construction. Ziya Mammadov went on to say that this partnership would boost the Azerbaijani and Latvian transport sectors.
Anrijs Matiss said he was aware of the achievements in the transport sector of Azerbaijan.
Matiss noted there was a big potential in terms of developing economic ties between Latvia and Azerbaijan.
They discussed strengthening cooperation with joint projects.
