Azerbaijan launches registration of IMEI-codes via electronic signatures

Baku, December 29 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan's Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies has launched registration of International Mobile Equipment Identification (IMEI) codes via electronic signatures.

The code registration system is an important component in preventing the illegal import of mobile phones to the country that are problematic for both mobile operators and users, as they do not correspond to the standards.

The database will be supplemented by ІMEІ codes of mobile phones that will be imported into the Azerbaijani territory. The new order will allow combating theft and illegal import of phones in Azerbaijan.
