Azerbaijan, Türkiye discuss diaspora cooperation

Fuad Muradov, Azerbaijan’s State Committee on Work with Diaspora, met with Kürşat Zorlu, Deputy Chairman of Türkiye’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), member of parliament and head of the General Directorate for Relations with Turkic States; Temel Akyürek, Deputy Head of the Directorate; and Cengiz Aygör, head of the Azerbaijan Office of the International Union of Democrats (UID).
The chairman briefed the meeting on the State Committee for Diaspora Affairs’ international projects and emphasized that Azerbaijan-Türkiye relations are based on historical ties, mutual trust and strong friendship. He noted that the political will and joint efforts of Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan have played a key role in elevating bilateral ties to a strategic partnership. As a result, relations between the two brotherly countries have continued to strengthen across all areas, including diaspora activities.
It was noted that important projects are being implemented to promote Azerbaijan’s values, convey its realities to the international community, unite Azerbaijanis abroad and coordinate diaspora activities. In this regard, 33 Azerbaijani Houses operate in 21 countries, several of them in Türkiye, helping unite the Azerbaijani community, preserve national heritage and further strengthen Azerbaijan-Türkiye ties.
Kürşad Zorlu stressed the importance of expanding cooperation among Turkic-speaking states and increasing joint initiatives. He highlighted the role of cutting-edge digital technologies in uniting and coordinating Azerbaijanis abroad, facilitating information exchange and strengthening cooperation around common goals. He also praised the State Committee for Diaspora Affairs’ projects and programs in this field.
The meeting featured a productive exchange of views, with proposals for future cooperation and concrete opportunities for collaboration discussed.
