Azerbaijan, UAE discuss prospects for interparliamentary ties

As part of her working visit to the United Arab Emirates, Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates.
Hailing the upward trajectory and comprehensive development of interstate relations between the two countries, the sides emphasized that the strategic partnership has reached the highest level across all sectors, driven by deep historical, cultural, and religious ties.
They noted that, thanks to the joint efforts and close personal contacts of the leaders, relations between the two states and their peoples have further deepened, and that today Azerbaijan and the UAE enjoy extensive and successful cooperation in various fields.
Recalling that President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev was awarded the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity, the Speaker of the Milli Majlis emphasized that the Azerbaijani people highly appreciate the conferment of this prestigious award, named after the late Sheikh Zayed, the founder of the United Arab Emirates.
The meeting also addressed the current state and prospects for interparliamentary relations. The parties highlighted the high level of relations between Azerbaijan and the UAE, which have been significantly strengthened through enhanced parliamentary diplomacy and reciprocal visits. In particular, they praised the successful cooperation of the two parliaments within international parliamentary organizations.
Sahiba Gafarova also commended the successful organization of the 2nd Session of the Women Parliamentary Forum of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), underscoring the importance of such international events in addressing issues of global concern.
