Azerbaijan, Vietnam discuss prospects for relationship
Baku, June 27 (AZERTAC). Members of the Azerbaijan parliament`s committee for international relations and interparliamentary ties met Thursday a delegation of Vietnam headed by Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly, Uonq Chu Lu.
The discussions focused on prospects for development of Azerbaijan-Vietnam relationship.
Member of the committee Azer Kerimli said official Baku places special emphasis on development of relationship with Vietnam. According to him, there is great potential to deepen cooperation between the two countries in agricultural and tourism spheres. “It is necessary to use this potential for development of bilateral relationship.”
Kerimli briefed the Vietnamese delegation on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, saying that all international organizations had condemned Armenia`s aggressive policy against Azerbaijan. He added official Yerevan does not honor resolutions adopted by the United Nations, European Union, Council of Europe and Organization of Islamic Cooperation on immediate and unconditional withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
Chu Lu recalled the years that he studied in Baku, saying the Azerbaijani capital had changed a lot since that time. Touching upon Azerbaijan-Vietnam relations, he said trade turnover between the two countries makes up $29 million. “But this figure is not satisfactory and bilateral economic cooperation should be expanded.”
Chu Lu also spoke of activities of the Vietnamese National Assembly.
