AZERBAIJAN WILL BECOME ELECTRICITY EXPORTING COUNTRY, PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV
President Ilham Aliyev said at the Cabinet`s meeting on Monday that the fact that severe winter weather had not had a negative impact on the power industry in the regions.
“We know that in some cases some countries failed to fulfill its contractual obligations. The countries which export and produce more electricity had to stop the export because of high domestic demand. However, we met our domestic demand and fulfilled our foreign obligations. It became possible due to large investments to the infrastructure projects,” said the President.
The Head of State noted the situation in the power industry of Azerbaijan has been drastically improved. According to him, after the next projects are implemented Azerbaijan will become the electricity exporting country.
Azerbaijani leader said additions to the 2008 budget would target not only social sphere but also infrastructure projects.
