AZERBAIJANI AMBASSADOR TO TURKEY MEETS WITH TURKISH PREMIER
The Premier first asked the Ambassador to convey his warm greetings and profound respect to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and recalled his meetings with national leader of Azerbaijan, outstanding political figure of the Turkish world Heydar Aliyev.
Informing Mr. Erdogan on the recent parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan, Ambassador Z. Hashimov said in particular the irregularities discovered in some election districts did not affect the overall results of the elections adding officials accused of breach of the law were punished.
Prime Minister Erdogan especially emphasized that in all he stood against any “velvet revolution” noting slight irregularities if do not affect the election results is normal practice.
Ambassador and Prime Minister also exchange views on the process of negotiations on settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Mr. Erdogan said he focuses on this issue every time he meets with heads of foreign states and governments noting Turkey has always supported and will continue to support the right cause of Azerbaijan.
He also expressed satisfaction with current state of Azerbaijan-Turkey relationship stressing the necessity to attach particular importance to development of economic cooperation between the two brotherly countries.
