Azerbaijani Ambassador visits Mehr Agency
Teheran, December 19 (AZERTAC). Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Iran Javanshir Akhundov has visited Iran`s Mehr news agency. The meeting began with touring the facilities at the agency. The Ambassador noted that although Azerbaijan is a Muslim country, it modernizes keeping its national mentality. He pointed out that national freedom, respect for the democratic values are major principles of the public policy.
Akhundov pointed out that the political course established by national leader Heydar Aliyev is now successfully continued by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. He underlined Azerbaijan implemented a number of international and regional economic projects authored by national leader Heydar Aliyev. These projects opened up new avenues for development.
The ambassador noted that Armenia destroyed flora and fauna in the occupied lands of Azerbaijan. According to him, there are facts confirming Armenians` using Shah Abbas mosque as a stall.
Asked about UNESCO`s registration of tangible and intangible heritage, Akhundov said all countries are entitled to assert their rights. Azerbaijan continues to register its heritage without affecting interests of any other countries. One of the steps undertaken by Azerbaijan is the application for registration of the Karabakh chovkani game, which is the intangible cultural heritage belonging to the Karabakh region.
