Azerbaijani, Japanese NGOs discuss cooperation
Baku, December 14 (AZERTAC). A meeting has been held in the Council of State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan with Takao Imanisi, first councilor of the Japanese Embassy in Azerbaijan and Sugiye Suguyama, coordinator of the diplomatic representation’s “Grassroots” Grant Assistance Programme.
Chairman of the council, MP Azay Guliyev briefed the Embassy’s representatives on the activity of the organization he heads, as well as projects implemented for local and foreign NGOs. He also noted Azerbaijani NGOs were interested in conducting joint workshops with relevant organizations of Japan.
During the meeting Azay Guliyev put forward some proposals to the Japanese side on conducting joint grant competitions, establishing International NGO-education Center in the country, as well as creation of new resources and training centers for support of development of NGOs in regions.
Guliyev also expressed his gratitude to the Japanese side for the implementation of economic and humanitarian projects in Azerbaijan.
Takao Imanisi, in turn, spoke about the NGO sector of Japan. He vowed to consider the proposals made by Guliyev.
Malahat Ibrahimqizi, MP and head of the Women Leaders Group was also present at the meeting.
