AZERBAIJANI PARLIAMENTARIANS ATTEND MEETING OF CIS PERMANENT COMMISSION
The first commission of the CIS Permanent Commission on Social Policy and Human Rights for 2008 was held on April 3- Elmira Akundova, Azerbaijani MP and member of the CIS relevant Commission said.
She noted Chairman of the Milli Majlis Permanent Commission on Regional Issues, MP Arif Rahimzade was again elected as the chairman of the CIS Commission on Social Policy and Human Rights.
According to her, some important questions were discussed at the meeting of the Commission.
“We regarded the adoption of the model law on persons missing as a result of armed conflict as important. This law is urgent for Azerbaijan in terms of contribution to search for missing persons”, Mrs Akundova emphasized.
The Azerbaijani MP also said the discussion on the convention on protection of the rights of compatriots abroad caused difference in the meeting. According to her, adoption of the Convention was delayed, so, some issues including the term “compatriots” had not been specified in the Convention.
