AZERBAIJANI SCHOLAR ANNOUNCED “MAN OF THE YEAR-2004” IN AMERICA
A. Khalafov devoted 50 years to studying of the library science history of Azerbaijan and training of Azerbaijani experts. He is the author of numerous textbooks, monographs and scientific articles.
In 1955, A. Khalafov graduated from the library section of the philological faculty of the Baku State University and stayed here for working as a teacher. He was the first to defend the Ph.D. thesis on the “History of Library science of Azerbaijan” and Doctoral thesis - in 1974. He initiated opening of the library faculty in the Baku State University he headed for 25 years. In 1969, he was conferred an honorary title “Honored Worker of Culture of Azerbaijan” for his services in developing Azerbaijani science, in 2001 – “Honored worker of science” while in 2000 he was awarded the “Shohret” (“Glory”) Order.
Conferring of a prestigious title of the American Institute of Biography once more proves his reputation and recognition of Azerbaijani library science throughout the world. The congratulation letter sent by director of the Institute G. M Evans says it is the unique nomination for services in building and developing the society.
