Azerbaijani theatre established in New York
Baku, December 15 (AZERTAC). An Azerbaijani theatre has been established in New York, according to the State Committee for Work with Diaspora.
The theatre, started functioning under the Azerbaijan Association of New York, opened its curtains with play “Monsieur Jourdan and Dervish Mast Ali Shah” by founder of Azerbaijani dramaturgy Mirza Fatali Akhundov.
The play, dedicated to the 200th anniversary of Mirza Fatali Akhundov, ran successfully.
Director of the play was honored artist, general director of Sumgayit State Musical Drama Theatre, Firudin Maharramov.
The cast included young and middle-age representatives of the Azerbaijan Association of New York.
Artistic designer of the play was Telman Jalilov. The play is considered to be held in Washington, Huston and other cities.
