AZERBAIJAN`S MINISTER OF INDUSTRY AND ENERGY MEETS CUBAN DELEGATION

Baku, May 19 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s Minister of Industry and Energy Natig Aliyev met Cuban delegation led by Richardo Gerego, co-chair of Azerbaijan-Cuba Intergovernmental Commission, Cuban Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment.

The sides touched on significance of the second meeting of Intergovernmental Commission held in Baku and the reciprocal visits.

Mr. Aliyev underlined that Azerbaijan has close relations with the government of Cuba. He noted that participation of Azerbaijani specialists in oil production of Cuba will give impetus to even more development of cooperation between the two countries.

Mr. Gerego emphasized that Cuba produces 4 mln tons of oil every year, which occupies 50 percent of the country`s reserves. Deputy Minister stressed that 11 foreign companies are operating in Cuban oil industry and invited Azerbaijani specialists to cooperate in this area. He noted that draft law on cooperation in the field of energy has been already submitted to Azerbaijan. He underlined that 90 percent of the highly qualified personnel, who work in oil industry of Cuba have graduated from the State Oil Academy of Baku in the Soviet period. He expressed his confidence for further cooperation with Azerbaijan in oil area.

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Cuba Agshin Mehdiyev and Deputy Minister of Industry and Energy Gulmammad Cavadov were present at the meeting.
