Azerbaijan’s national team in judo becomes winner in Grand Prix in Baku

Baku, May 7 (AZERTAC). The Grand prix in judo ended at the Serhedchi Olympic Sport Center.

With 19 awards including six gold, five silver and eight bronze ones, the national team of Azerbaijan took the first place among teams. Japan is second and Georgia is third.

Tural Safguliyev (81 kg), Elkhan Mammadov (100 kg), and Gulsedef Kerimova (78 kg) became the winners on Sunday. Silver went to Ramin Gurbanov (90 kg), Ramila Yusubova (63 kg) and Farida Gurbanova (78 kg) while bronze went to Mammadali Mehdiyev (81 kg), Andrey Fatiyev (over 100 kg), Gunay Alimammadli (70 kg) and Gulnara Asadova (over 78 kg).

Nine awards were gained on Saturday. Ilgar Mushkiyev (60 kg), Rustam Orujev (73 kg) and Kifayat Gasimova (57 kg) rose to the highest stage of pedestal. Second places went to Vafa Eyvazova (48 kg) and Gulshan Nazarova (52 kg), while bronze went to Orkhan Safarov (60 kg), Tarlan Kerimov (66 kg), Nijat Shikhalizade (66 kg) and Turana Seidi (52 kg).

101 sportsmen from 15 countries participate in Grand Prix.
