AZERI GEOLOGIST ELECTED PRESIDENT OF NEWLY FOUNDED INTERNATIONAL COMMISSION
A new earthquake-proof construction technology worked out by Prof. Elchin Khalilov in collaboration with president of the International Academy of Sciences (IAS), Prof. Walter Kofler has been highly valued at the enlarged meeting of the Academy Presidium in Innsbruck, Austria.
According to the IAS’ Azerbaijani section, the Presidium adopted an address to the United Nations, UNESCO and other organizations, as well as heads of governments strongly recommending to apply the new method in the countries at high seismic risk. The Presidium and the International Organization Eurasia-Pacific Uninet decided to elect Prof. Elchin Khalilov, the Vice-President of the Eastern Europe section and President of the Azerbaijan section of IAS a president of the newly founded International Commission for seismic risk and earthquake-proof construction.
