Azeri Speaker attends conference of ECO Parliamentary Union in Pakistan

Baku, February 14 (AZERTAC). Milli Majlis chairman Ogtay Asadov has participated in the 1st conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in Pakistan.

Asadov was accompanied by MPs Aliaga Huseynov and Ilham Mammadov, and head of the parliament`s administration Safa Mirzayev.

Speaking to the event, Asadov praised the work of the conference. He expressed confidence the ECO Parliamentary Union will play an important role in settling disputes, including the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Speaker of the Turkish Parliament Cemil Cicek called on ECO member states to take tough stance on the occupation of Azerbaijan`s lands by Armenia.

As part of the visit, Speaker Asadov held a number of meetings with foreign countries` officials, including chairman of Pakistan`s Senate Nayyar Hussain Bukhari and National Assembly Speaker Fehmida Mirza, Speaker of Shura-i-Islami of Iran Ali Larijani, and deputy speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan Faisal Karim Kundi.
