AzerTAc, Finland-Azerbaijan Association mark 90th anniversary of Academician Zarifa Aliyeva
Helsinki, April 23 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency (AZERTAC) and the Finland-Azerbaijan Association (FAA) have co-organized on Monday an event entitled “Role of Women in society” to mark the 90th anniversary of famous Azerbaijani ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva in Helsinki.
The event was attended by AZERTAC staff members, representatives of Finland-Turkey Society, Finland-Azerbaijan Association and Finland-Turkey Center, as well as Finnish women activists.
The event has kicked off with a video film made by AZERTAC featuring life and career of the prominent academician.
Addressing the event, chair of FAA`s Azerbaijani Women`s Society Arzu Muradli stressed the importance of the event. Muradli told of academician Zarifa Aliyeva`s important contributions to the development and progress of medical sciences.
On role of women in society, Muradli said “women who have wide intellectual capacity in Azerbaijan are working in various areas of life”.
Speaking to the event, representative of Turkey`s committee on work with the Turks living abroad Mina Eray praised holding of the event, saying “it makes great contribution to promoting Azerbaijani and Turkish culture, art and historical realties”.
Eray hailed the unity of Azerbaijan and Turkey with common culture, traditions, art and history.
Board member of Finland-Turkey Center Anna Liza told of the friendship ties between the Finnish people and Azerbaijanis and Turks living in the country.
The event also featured AZERTAC`s exhibition of Azerbaijan-related photos.
