Baku Congress of Peoples of East-1920 kicks off

Baku, November 24 (AZERTAC). The international conference “Baku Congress of the Peoples of the East-1920: history and realities” has started in Azerbaijan`s capital.

The event is co-organized by the Institute of Oriental Studies of ANAS named after Ziya Bunyadov and the International Institute of Social History of the Netherlands.

The congress is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the first congress of the Peoples of the East in Baku in 1920.

The event brings together scientists from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Iran, Uzbekistan, the Netherlands, Russia, Great Britain, Germany, Japan and Georgia.

Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies, professor, MP Govhar Bakhshaliyeva highlighted the importance and history of the congress.

Participants of the event watched a documentary and historical film “A first Congress of the Peoples of the East (1920)” and viewed a photo exhibition.
