Baku, November 12, AZERTAC
On November 12, the 8th CICA (Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia) Youth Council Meeting was held in Baku.
The ceremony began with the performance of the National Anthem of Azerbaijan, followed by opening speeches of Azerbaijan's Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov and CICA Secretary General Kairat Sarybay.
Later, the winners of the art and essay competitions on artificial intelligence held among young people, co-organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Secretariat of the Azerbaijan Youth and Sports Council, were awarded.
As part of the program, the agenda of the meeting was approved, followed by an opening ceremony. The event was attended by 110 participants from 19 countries.
The meeting, chaired by Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Indira Hajiyeva, was addressed by the heads of delegations. It was noted that the first conference of the CICA Youth Council Meeting was held on August 10-13, 2015 in Beijing, the capital of China. The event, titled “Promoting Youth Exchange and People-to-People Relations, Building a Beautiful Asian Society,” officially defined the main goals and objectives of the council and created the working mechanism of the CICA Youth Council.
Then, the final document of the 8th meeting of the Youth Council was adopted.
The event continued with training sessions on the topic “Sustainable Development Goals in Action.”
In the coming days, there will be a forum of voluntary movement leaders from the CICA countries, and within the “Youth Brainstorming” competition, participants will share experiences in panel discussions and interactive sessions. In the final stage of the program, participants will tour the city of Shusha and familiarize themselves with the cultural heritage of Karabakh.
The CICA platform identifies ways to eliminate factors that create tension in the world, including conflicts, radical approaches, and terrorism. The member states have laid the foundation not only for economic cooperation but also for political security. Economic interests have created the necessity for the member states to provide political support to one another.
