Baku hosts Azerbaijan-Georgia Media Forum

The Azerbaijan-Georgia Media Forum on the theme “The role of media in forming public trust and information security” was held in Baku.
In his opening remarks, Ahmad Ismayilov, Executive Director of the Media Development Agency, emphasized the importance of expanding consistent information exchange, strengthening mutual trust between media entities, and establishing a common communication agenda in fostering regional stability and sustainable development.
The first panel session, held as part of the forum, on the theme “Strengthening the media ecosystem to ensure information security,” was moderated by Fazil Novruzov, Chief of Staff of the Audiovisual Council.
Speakers at the panel session included Radik Ismayilov, Executive Director of ARB 24 TV channel, Ioane Shaishmelashvili, host of the Georgian Eurocracy - Former Europe program, Adil Taghiyev, Head of the Legal Department at the Media Development Agency, and Ramiliya Aliyeva, Head of the “Colorful Georgia” project of the Public Television of Georgia, journalist, and TV presenter.
The session featured discussions on major challenges in the contemporary media sphere, as well as key issues such as the complex impact of technological shifts on media landscape, measures for preserving information integrity and reliability, the phenomenon of social media becoming a key source of information, and methods for optimizing audience engagement through advanced digital communication tools.
The second panel session on the theme “Joint cooperation in increasing the professionalism of journalists and the media literacy of society” was moderated by Vafa Isgandarova, Director of Nakhchivan Regional Office of the Media Development Agency.
Speakers at the second session, including Laman Isgandarova, Director of the Department of Media Support Projects, Strategic Planning and Information Technologies of the Agency, Maia Pachkoria, Professor of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of Grigol Robakidze University, Head of the Multimedia Center, Vugar Zifaroglu, Dean of the Faculty of Journalism of Baku State University, as well as Gia Abashidze, representative of the analytical group of the Georgian “PosTV” TV channel shared their views on increasing the professionalism of journalists, improving the media literacy of society and the role of bilateral cooperation in this area.
The panel further highlighted that given the media's growing role, securing access to reliable information for the public is paramount, noting that this objective requires concentrated efforts to improve journalist expertise, expand awareness programs, and develop long-term media literacy initiatives.
The forum aims to deepen cooperation in the media field between the two countries, enhance trust in the information environment, and properly assess security challenges.
