CEDAW EXPERT MEETS CHAIRPERSON OF COMMITTEE ON WOMEN, CHILDREN AND FAMILY
Visiting expert of UN the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women Navamanee (CEDAW) Ratna Patten met Monday with chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Problems Mrs. Hijran Huseynova to discuss preparation of the report on elimination of discrimination against women. Huseynova provided information about the Committee`s policy. She stressed the importance of the Convention, adding the Committee is cooperating with UN agencies in this area.
Patten said it is important that Government promote the convention. Patten said she will be involved in training of officials and women`s NGO representatives.
The meeting also focused on CEDAW`s accomplishments.
