CHAIRMAN OF “VALMONT INDUSTRIES” MEETS WITH AGRICULTURE MINISTER
Ismet Abasov said US administration and its organizations including United States Agency for International Development take part in carrying out economic reforms in Azerbaijan. The world famous Company “Valmont Industries” having dealer network in 45 countries and implementing irrigation projects in over 100 states is also involved in this process. Azerbaijan is in enormous need of these projects.
Mr. Mogens Bay said that his Company is involved in development of the agricultural program in Azerbaijan. The program is composed of three projects – sugar beet of “Azersun Holding”, CTS Agro Pambyg and MKT Pambyg. The implementation of the program will begin in 2006 through these pilot programs covering the area of 250 hectares. Large-scale development projects in the area of 10-13 thousand hectares are scheduled to begin in 2007. The realization of the program will foster development of the strategic sector in export, sustainable currency source, opening of new jobs.
According to I. Abasov, it will be difficult to find unused 250-hectare fertile land because of the land reforms carried out in Azerbaijan. Thus, he found a need to use state-owned land parcels.
