Composition contest on Azerbaijan launched in Egypt
Baku, November 1 (AZERTAC). A composition contest “What do I know about Azerbaijan” has been launched in Egypt.
The contest is a project of Azerbaijan`s Embassy in Egypt, Youth and Sports Ministry and Cairo University.
The subjects of the compositions is lifetime and activity of national leader Heydar Aliyev, Azerbaijan`s history, literature, art, economy, as well as the country`s role in international relations.
The purpose of the project is to increase the knowledge of the Egyptian students and young scientists about Azerbaijan and to encourage them to conduct scientific and research works on the country.
Authors of ten best compositions to be selected by the jury will visit Azerbaijan.
The contest will be held in Cairo, Ain Shams, Al-Azhar, Alexandria universities and American University in Cairo. A ceremony of rewarding winners will be held in January in 2011.
President of Cairo University Hosam Kamil welcomed the initiative to hold the contest, saying it will contribute to strengthening unity of Azerbaijani and Egyptian youngsters.
Coordinator of the contest, director of the program on Civilization Studies and Dialogue of Cultures Pakinam El Sharkawy said such projects serve strengthening friendship between the Azerbaijani and Egyptian peoples.
