CONGRESS PARTICIPANTS PAY TRIBUTE TO MARTYRS
Participants in the 11th Friendship, Brotherhood and Cooperation Congress of Turkic States and Communities also visited the Alley of Martyrs in Baku to commemorate the heroic sons and daughters of Azerbaijan, who sacrificed their lives for independence and territorial integrity of the country, and lay to flowers at the tombs. They also laid a wreath at the memorial Eternal Fire.
After that, the Congress participants laid a wreath at the monument to 1130 Turkish soldiers, who died in battles for liberation of Baku form Bolshevik-Armenian dashnaks in 1918. The monument was uncovered in 2000 in the presence of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey. Monuments to Turkish soldiers were erected in five regions of Azerbaijan.
