After familiarizing himself with the Parliament`s session hall, he viewed the Heydar Aliyev Memorial Hall and signed its Guest Book.
Then, the Croatian leader met with Speaker Ogtay Asadov.
The Azeri Speaker said his country places particular emphasis on development of its relationships with Croatia.
The Milli Majlis Chairman stressed the role of reciprocal visits in strengthening Azerbaijan-Croatia relations.
He noted that documents signed during Stjepan Mesic`s current visit formed a legal foundation for further enhancing bilateral cooperation.
Ogtay Asadov also stressed the role of parliaments in boosting the two countries` relations.
The Speaker informed the Croatian President about Azerbaijan`s economic development and global energy projects that his country in the initiator of and participant in.
On the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Asadov stressed the dispute must be solved only in accordance with international legal norms and the principle of Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity.
The Speaker expressed his hope that Croatia will support his country`s stance on the dispute.
Croatian President Stjepan Mesic said he is pleased to be in Azerbaijan.
He described his talks with President Ilham Aliyev as very fruitful.
Stjepan Mesic stressed he believes Croatia-Azerbaijan relations will further enhance in all areas, including political, economic and cultural.
Head of the Milli Majlis Apparatus Safa Mirzayev, members of the Azerbaijan-Croatia interparliamentary friendship group and other officials were among those in attendance at the meeting.
