DELEGATION OF AZERBAIJAN WILL TAKE PART IN ECOLOGICAL CONFERENCE

Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan Gusseingulu Bagirov will take part in the first international conference Caspian: Ecology -2003 to be held between September 11 and 12 in Kazakhstan.

The conference was organized by Ministries of Energy and Natural Resources, Environment Protection of Kazakhstan and national company KazMunayGas. AzerTaj was informed in press service of the Ministry that the delegation of Azerbaijan consists of representatives of SOCAR and different ecological organizations.

Participants of the conference, heads of nature protection offices of Caspian states, international experts, representatives of oil companies will discuss ecological issues of a unique basin, issues of using up-to-date technologies harmless for environment when development fields in the Caspian, raising the level of cooperation between the regional countries in the field of ecology.

According to Kazakh mass media, it is planning that this conference will be held annually, giving an opportunity to Caspian states to get objective picture of biological resources and protection of the unique basin. The second international Caspian conference is to be held in Istanbul in autumn of 2004. They decided to hold next conference in Turkey because discussion of a wide-range of issues on environment protection of Caspian and Black Sea basins is to be held next year.
