FOREIGN MINISTER RECEIVES ESTONIAN DELEGATION
The Minister noted that Azerbaijan attaches a great importance to relations with Estonia as well as other Baltic countries. Azerbaijan has chosen the way of integration into the European and Euroatlantic structures and is carrying out reforms in this direction.
Speaking of the socio-political and economic situation in the country, he stressed that the rapid economic development, in particular, putting into operation of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipelines would promote strengthening of Azerbaijan’s position in the European markets. The Minister also pointed to expanding of cooperation with majority of the European countries on a number projects being implemented in non-oil sector.
Dwelling on the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict impeding development of not only Azerbaijan but also the whole region, Minister Mammadyarov stated in particular that our country adheres to peaceful resolution of the problem, and stressed the importance of continuation of the peace talks.
Chair of the Estonian parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee Marco Mickelson said this was his first visit to Azerbaijan, and that he was impressed with economic development in the country. He also noted that as the European Union and NATO member country, Estonia bears a great responsibility, and expressed confidence that European Union would show more interest in the Southern Caucasus in the future. The guest stressed the importance of continuation of cooperation between the parties.
