General Counsel of International Association of Prosecutors visits Azerbaijan
Baku, January 22 (AZERTAC). As part of his trip to Azerbaijan, Elizabeth Howe, General Counsel of International Association of Prosecutors, Crown Prosecutor of Great Britain has today visited the Alley of Honors to lay a wreath at the tomb of national leader, founder and architect of modern Azerbaijani state Heydar Aliyev.
He also put flowers at the grave of the prominent ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva.
The British Prosecutor also visited the Alley of Martyrs to pay tribute to Azerbaijan’s sons and daughters that sacrificed themselves for the sake of Motherland’s freedom and sovereignty, and laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame monument.
Elizabeth Howe is expected to meet Azerbaijan’s Justice Minister, senator and honorable member of International Association of Prosecutors Fikret Mammadov and Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov. Howe will familiarize himself with judicial and legal reforms carried out in the country, prosecution and judicial infrastructure equipped with modern information and communication technologies, as well as the Supreme Court, Yasamal District Court, and a new administrative building of Anti-Corruption Department under Prosecutor General, built in accordance with the state program on "Modernizing the activities of the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan" approved in 2008.
The General Counsel of International Association of Prosecutors will also visit regions of Azerbaijan to become familiar with a condition created in activities of law-enforcement bodies, their material and technical base.
Howe is also expected to meet with Azerbaijani members of International Association of Prosecutors.
