Global Leaders Council names its members and priorities
Baku, April 23 (AZERTAC). The Global Leaders Council founded by the Library of Alexandria, the Nizami Ganjavi International Center, the Foundation for Peace and the Council on Foreign Relations has named its members and main priorities.
According to the State Committee on work with Diaspora, in recent years the global threat in international relations, increase of conflicts, inequality and injustice, terrorism, acts of war and the occupations have created suspicion and fear among the people. In this context, promotion of tolerance and understanding, establishment of collective political will to address imbalances, building bridges between the cultures and peoples have become much more urgent. All these matters are among the main priorities of the Global Leaders Council.
Members of the organization include Latvian ex-president Vaira Vike-Freiberga, Finnish ex-president Tarja Halonen, UNESCO`s ex-director Federico Mayor Zaragoza, director of the Library of Alexandria Ismail Serageldin, Special Adviser to the UN Secretary General Nafis Sadik, Queen Noor of Jordan, Sheik Hissah Bint Saad Abdulad Salem Al-Sabah and Chair of the Azerbaijani State Committee on work with Diaspora Nazim Ibrahimov.
The Global Leadership Council aims to establish mutual relations between international organizations, promotion of the peace, education, human rights, democracy and mutual understanding on national and global levels.
The first meeting of the organization will be held in Baku on May 7-8. Organization`s headquarters will be Baku, Washington, Geneva and Alexandria.
