Google experiment adds detail cards to search results
Baku, Aug 20 (AZERTAC). Google is experimenting with a new search results page that provides additional information about the pages listed in the results. Alongside the usual link and URL there is also a "details" link which provides some info on the site you`re about to visit, pulled from Wikipedia and other sources, similar to the details Google offers in Knowledge Graph cards.
It`s an interesting experiment and the feature could prove useful in any number of cases, making it possible to find out more about a site or determine whether it`s worth the click, without having to actually visit it.
It also makes sense to keep this info separate from the results, since it tends to be of a more general nature, which isn`t what you`re looking for in most cases.
However, Google seems to pull the info mostly from Wikipedia or its own sources, i.e. Blogspot. That can be useful in many cases, but it won`t in many others. What`s more, Google doesn`t always match the sites to the proper wiki pages.
