GUAM MAKES STATEMENT TO RESPOND TO OSCE CHIEF`S VIEWS
GUAM member countries issued a joint statement in response to OSCE Chairman-in-Office and Finnish Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb`s words about priorities of the presidency in the organization.
The statement indicated that OSCE Permanent Council respects territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Moldova. It says priorities declared by OSCE chairman-in-office coincide with GUAM`s interests.
The documents stresses conflicts can be solved only through constructive negotiations, and that GUAM member countries believe Azerbaijan, Moldova and Georgia will contribute to settlement of conflicts.
In accordance with the document, GUAM member states support the activity of Ambassador Heikki Talvitie, the special envoy of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office. GUAM`s position towards settlement of conflicts remained unchanged. Under the international law, territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Moldova must be respected; settlement of conflicts must be based on UN resolutions and OSCE decisions: refugees and IDPs must return to their homes.
