ICIC special edition newsletter highlights Azerbaijani Ombudsperson’s activities

In 2025, the 10th anniversary of UNESCO’s designation of September 28 as the International Day for Universal Access to Information was marked. To mark this significant occasion, the International Conference of Information Commissioners (ICIC) prepared a Special Edition Newsletter highlighting activities and initiatives carried out around the world.
The ICIC’s Special Edition Newsletter also highlighted the activities and initiatives of Sabina Aliyeva, the Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The newsletter mentioned the efforts undertaken in Azerbaijan to strengthen the protection of the right to access information and to raise public awareness in this field. It featured details on the series of educational events organized by the Azerbaijani Ombudsman on the theme ‘Ensuring the Right to Access Information’; the booklet and video titled ‘The Right of Media Outlets and Journalists to Access Information’ prepared by the Office of the Ombudsperson; the Commissioner’s participation in the ‘Tu Info, Tu Derecho’ campaign; as well as her interview published in the local media on the International Day for Universal Access to Information.”
