INFLOW OF FOREIGN WORKERS TO AZERBAIJAN ON RISE
There is inflow of foreign workforce into various sectors, including the construction one, President Ilham Aliyev stated during the Cabinet`s meeting on socio-economic development in Azerbaijan in early 2008. The President stressed establishment of the State Migration Service came just in time, saying the government must prevent migrants from edging locals out of their own labor market.
“They must behave in line with our traditions and laws. The government should seriously regulate the policy in this area,” said the President.
“Azerbaijan must become the rich and developed country. We have set ourselves this goal,” stated the Azerbaijani Leader, adding the influx of migrants to Azerbaijan can rise.
“We must be ready for this so that interests of the Azerbaijan people can be ensured fully. Once, people were going from provinces to other countries. Now, they work in their regions or go to Baku. It is a positive indicator,” President Aliyev added.
