IRAN-AZERBAIJAN PARLIAMENT FRIENDSHIP GROUP TO SERVE EXPANSION OF BILATERAL RELATIONS
Speaker of Azerbaijan Parliament Ogtay Asadov on 12 September met with the delegation led by Ahad Gazai, chairman of the Iran-Azerbaijan Parliament Friendship Group.
Ogtay Asadov spoke of friendly historical ties between the two countries, noting they have been established on solid base.
Chairman of Milli Majlis said the mutual visits of the heads of state of both countries have opened large opportunities for diverse development of relations. The parliamentary friendship groups have been created in both parliaments. The current visit of Iranian parliamentarians would promote further cooperation of the legislative bodies of the two countries, the Speaker stressed.
Ahad Gazai reminded his activity as the ambassador of IIR to Azerbaijan. The goal of the Friendship Group is to expand the friendly and kind relations between the two countries, Mr. Gazai said.
He also estimated as successful the latest visit of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to Azerbaijan.
Members of the Azerbaijan-Iran Parliament Friendship Group attended the meeting.
