JEWISH LOBBY ALWAYS SUPPORTS AZERBAIJAN’S STANCE, ISRAELI DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER
Jewish Lobby always supports Azerbaijan’s stance, said Avigdor Liberman, Israeli Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Strategic Affairs at his meeting with the Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (Parliament) Ogtay Asadov on Friday.
The Israeli Minister said that the cooperation between Azerbaijan and Israel rapidly develops. He said his country supports Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity in the Nagorno-Karabakh question. He went on to say that the Jewish lobby, which is influential in the world, supports Azerbaijan’s stance in international organizations.
O. Asadov, in his turn, stressed the mutual visits promote the Azerbaijani-Israeli ties, noting the further expansion of cooperation in political, economic, scientific, cultural and humanitarian areas between the two countries is of great importance.
The Parliament Speaker said the two countries have huge potential for the further boosting of economic and trade relations.
Speaking of historical friendship ties between the two peoples, O. Asadov said there has never been the fact of anti-Semitism in Azerbaijan, on the contrary, the Jewish communities have always peacefully lived here within centuries.
There are 5 Jewish synagogues in Azerbaijan, and all the Jews here feel at home, the Chairman of Milli Majlis said.
The Parliament Speaker briefed the visitor on the regional oil-gas and transport projects Azerbaijan has initiated, noting that this stimulates the development of entire region.
He said Azerbaijan has contributed Europe’s energy security by commissioning of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipelines.
