Korea hosts ceremony on 95th anniversary of Azerbaijan`s Armed Forces
Baku, June 27 (AZERTAC). A solemn ceremony marking the 95th anniversary of Azerbaijan`s Armed Forces has been held in Seoul, Korea.
The event brought together officials of the Defence Ministry of Korea, as well as representatives of the Korean Navy, reps of diplomatic corps accredited in Korea, heads of the country`s defence industry companies.
Chargé d'Affaires of Azerbaijan`s Embassy in Korea Elchin Jafarov provided an insight into history of the country`s armed forces.
“The first democratic republic in the East - the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic founded its national army on 26June 1918”, he stressed.
“In 1993, the National Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev led the country on persistent demand of the Azerbaijanis. In short span of time he was able to unite his nation, form strong army which was able not only to halt aggression but to liberate the substantial parts of occupied lands as well. Heydar Aliyev`s Army building policy has been successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev, as the establishment of the Ministry of Defence Industry was one of the most important steps taken by the Government of Azerbaijan on the way of forming a modern Army and to provide self-sufficiency in military hardware”.
The event also featured an exhibition and demonstration of video on Azerbaijan`s Armed Forces.
