Kuala Lumpur hosts OANA Executive Board’s 54th meeting

Hosted by the Malaysian National News Agency (BERNAMA), the 54th meeting the Executive Board (EBM) of the Organization of Asia Pacific News Agencies (OANA) has been held in Kuala Lumpur.
The meeting, chaired by Iran's IRNA news agency, was attended by representatives of 13 member agencies of the Executive Board, including AZERTAC.
The participants discussed the digitalization of news production, the impact of artificial intelligence, and ways to counter fake news and disinformation.
During the OANA’s 54th EBM, Secretary General Zaman Rezakhani presented the organization's financial report. He noted that OANA is planning to arrange online seminars to better prepare news agencies for new challenges. The member new agencies agreed that the first seminar would focus on artificial intelligence (AI).
Then, winners of the "OANA Photo 2024" and "OANA Article 2024" competitions were announced, with TASS winning the "Single photo" nomination, and Vietnam's VNA agency the "Photo report" nomination. VNA news agency also took the first place in the article competition.
The Executive Board unanimously decided that the next General Assembly of OANA will be held in St. Petersburg in June this year, organized by TASS.
Malaysia's Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Tengku Zafrul and Minister of Communications Fahmi Fadzil were also present at the meeting.
