LEADERS OF SCOUT MOVEMENT MET REPRESENTATIVES OF MASS MEDIA OF AZERBAIJAN
At the meeting, with introductory speech the president of the Association of Scouts of Azerbaijan (ASA) Namig Jafarov was speaking. He noted that the goal of the next session of the Eurasian committee in Baku is coordination of the date of carrying out of the second regional Eurasian conference of scout organizations. The Conference is presumably planned for September of this year.
President of the ASA reminded that the Organization supervised by him has been founded on October 11, 1997, and due to the vigorous activity on August 20, 2000 became the full member of the Organization of the World Movement of Scouts.
“Establishment and expansion of activity of the Association, undoubtedly, is connected to the name of national leader Heydar Aliyev. Thanks to his support, the scout movement in Azerbaijan has got special scope”, has emphasized N. Jafarov, having noted thus, that for last seven years our compatriots have taken part in 30 international scout arrangements, and members of the Association totals 1400.
President of ASA emphasized the role of the ministry of youth, sports and tourism of Azerbaijan in development of scout movement in the Republic. He has drawn attention of participants of the meeting to clothes of the Azerbaijan scouts, having noted, that ties and uniform reflect colors of three-colored national flag of the country. “Scout movement first of all should bring up love to the native land in the people”, Mr. Jafarov said.
The president of ASA specified that in many countries of the world, honorable heads of scout movements are the heads of the states. By N. Jafarov's words, the management of ASA is going to address with the request to the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to head the movement of scouts in our country.
In his turn, director of the Eurasian Committee Alexander Bondar has noted that the Organization of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) unites in itself structures of 157 states of the world, and 28 million children annually participate in various scout actions. “Scout movement has deep historical roots and world recognition due to the special approach to rising generation, developing in children and teenagers necessary vital skills”, Mr. A. Bondar underlined.
Participants of the Eurasian committee have answered numerous questions of journalists. The video-film narrating about activity of scout organizations in Ukraine has been demonstrated.
Heads of national scout organizations of Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia and Tajikistan took part in a meeting.
