“LEGAL ASPECTS INFLUENCING FREEDOM OF MEDIA IN AZERBAIJAN” FOCUSED
Speakers at the workshop have noted, that after gaining independence, Azerbaijan has taken the path of democratic development, has carried out reforms on maintenance of free press and speech, according to obligations the Country took before the international organizations has created legislative base providing freedom of media, that meets modern requirements.
Then, were delivered reports of experts on themes “Laws of the Azerbaijan Republic, protecting authority” and “Bills on freedom of information”.
At the round-table, there were present representative of OSCE on freedom of media Miklosh Haratshi, special representative of the Secretary General of Council of Europe Mats Lindberg, head of the socio-political department of President Administration Ali Hasanov, chairman of standing commission of Milli Majlis on legal policy and state building Ali Huseynov, deputies, official representatives of the government, the head of the Baku office of OSCE Maurizio Pavezi, experts of OSCE and the Council of Europe, representatives of embassies of foreign countries, NGOs, the international organizations and the public.
