MEETING AT MILLI MAJLIS
Mr. Asgarov dwelt on friendly links between the two countries and interparliamentary relations, economic development of Azerbaijan, and the role of the country in realization of important regional projects. He also touched on the problems existing in the region. Speaking of the reasons and consequences of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh problem, Deputy Chairman of the Milli Majlis expressed regret that parliamentarians of some countries, in particular, Great Britain, visit via Armenia the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, meets with separatists that cause people’s right concern in our country.
Thanking for the detailed information MP Angus Robertson said Great Britain as well as the whole Europe have great concern in the South Caucasus, and Azerbaijan in particular. According to him, involvement of the South Caucasian countries in the new neighborhood policy is a vivid evidence of concern. The British parliamentarians expressed readiness to assist Azerbaijan to integrate into Europe. They also stated they realize the concern of the official Baku with respect to some parliamentarians’ trips to the occupied territories, and promised to bring it to the notice of their colleagues.
The parties also exchanged views on a number of other issues of mutual interest.
