MEETING IN MILLI MAJLIS
The President of Moldova and members of delegation have familiarized with museum of Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Republic.
Then, the meeting of Chairman of Milli Majlis Murtuz Alaskarov and the President of Moldova Vladimir Voronin has taken place in the Parliament.
Opening the meeting, Chairman of Milli Majlis warmly welcomed the President of Moldova. At M. Alaskarov's words, the mutual relations have old history. During the Soviet period between Moldova and Azerbaijan there was established friendship links.
The Speaker has emphasized, that President Heydar Aliyev and the President of Moldova have founded the basis of mutual relations between our sovereign states after gaining by both countries their state independence. Presidents of two countries have made official visits during which bases of friendship have been established, and were signed important documents, tens agreements on the further development and deepening of these relations.
Chairman of Milli Majlis welcomed the signed documents which oblige and to develop henceforth the political dialogue, economic and cultural links.
Having touched the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorny Karabakh conflict, the Speaker has told, that this problem is the painful matter of the our people as 20 percent of its territories have been occupied, there are more than 1 million refugees. Two states - Moldova and Azerbaijan - have faced similar problem. In connection with Pridnestrovie and Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorny Karabakh conflicts have violated territorial integrity of Moldova and Azerbaijan. In this question, the position of two states completely coincide - both support recognition and maintenance of territorial integrity of the countries.
Having thanked for warm reception, the head of Moldova also has emphasized, that between two countries on many questions there is common opinion, including the problem of territorial integrity of the states up to all others, connected to care of improvement of well being of peoples of the countries.
The active role in development of our relations, was noted by V. Voronin, play also parliaments of both countries. WE have in our parliament a group of friendship with parliament of Azerbaijan. In Moldova, there is Azerbaijani Diaspora that actively participates in public life of the country.
Speaking about the problem of separatism, the President of Moldova has told, that sooner or later these problems would be solved. However, many do not understand or do not want to understand our problems, he said. We are understood by only those countries, which have faced separatism, he stressed.
Then, the President of Moldova and Chairman of Milli Majlis were photographed at the bust of the national leader of Azerbaijan people Heydar Aliyev established in foyer of Parliament.
