Meeting of Euronest PA energy security committee kicks off in Baku
Baku, February 12 (AZERTAC). A meeting of Euronest Parliamentary Assembly (PA) energy security committee has launched here on Tuesday.
Opening the meeting, Azerbaijani co-chair of the committee MP Fuad Muradov thanked leaders of Azerbaijani state, government and parliament for their support in high level organization of the event.
He said the meeting would discuss issues and hear reports on ensuring energy security and defining Azerbaijan`s role in this regard.
Vice-president of Azerbaijan State Oil Company (SOCAR) Elshad Nasirov highlighted history of the country`s oil industry, and significance of the “Contract of the Century” after the restoration of independence.
Official of Azerbaijani Ministry for Industry and Energy Aysel Bayramova briefed the participants on energy projects being implemented in the country.
Vice-speaker of Azerbaijani Parliament, chairman of committee for natural resources, energy and ecology Valeh Alasgarov gave information about legislation on oil-gas industry, and international cooperation.
The meeting is also expected to feature discussions and hear reports on a wide range of issues, including prospects for development of oil and gas industry, legislative base and diversification of energy projects.
The event is joined by MPs of European Parliament, Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova, as well as international experts for economics, and Azerbaijani officials.
